Hi Bebeluna, congratulations again on taking part in ReBalance 2024. Looking back, how was your time recording at The Albion Rooms, Margate?
I was able to fully invest my time and energy into the tracks we worked on, and a large part of that was due to the freedom and facilities that The Albion Rooms gave to us as artists. I honestly would go back there to record more of my projects, I have nothing else to compare it to, it was hopefully the first experience of many more.
When you compare this with other recordings, do you feel your approach to writing and prepping was any different this time around?
The demos and ideas I already had were elevated to a degree that floored me. Taylor Pollock was the best person I could have been paired with. They immediately knew what I was going for and respectfully pushed me in the right direction. It’s made me look so much more forward to working with other producers, since I usually do most of everything myself.
As soon as you were confirmed for the project we felt Taylor would be a great fit for you – it felt like your energies match. Were there any particular highlights for you?
This whole journey with Taylor has felt like a blessed one. I don’t think I would’ve produced such beautiful music if it was with anyone else. It almost felt like the stars aligned and I’m so grateful for Ruth and to ReBalance for this new-found friendship and connection with Taylor.
Do you think The Albion Rooms being a residential studio (and by the sea) provided anything different for you when it came to being creative? Was it good to get out of London?
Of course!! Not being under the weight that London holds above us, residing in such beautifully curated rooms, by the sea, in such an incredible, fully stocked studio – it was an experience that I will treasure forever. I felt no limitations or borders, I was able to create whatever I wanted and to be unapologetically myself.
What have you learned from the ReBalance process so far – do you feel any different post-recording?
I feel more sure of myself and my music. I believe I’ve set myself a new standard from the music I’ve made through this program; and the people I’ve been surrounded by. I’m inspired.
Is there any advice you’ve been given over the years that you’d like to share with anyone starting out?
I guess I remind myself that – it’s all feeling. Although they pass through you and shouldn’t be held on to for too long, it’s where I create from and how I stay true to myself and my art.
Lastly, do you have a favourite track you’ve recorded during ReBalance?
Desire Lines.
